However, there are those who are promoting barefoot running. Barefoot running operates on the premise that you could correct your gait as you run on your barefoot, or with minimalist shoes. If you are running, it is common for the feet to tolerate up to 8 times your bodyweight. This means that your feet muscles should take all of this. For the proponents of barefoot running, you will be able to tolerate the damage if you stick with running on the ball of your feet. This is something that is impossible to achieve if you have shoes.
But what if you have flat feet? If you have flat feet, most likely, you are an overpronator. This means that you will be rolling your foot inwards. Overpronation is a condition that could injure not only your feet but also your knees.
Should you stick with flat feet running shoes?

Also, you need to consider the fact that shoes were developed in order to protect the body. Orthotics is sometimes even suggested for individuals who have severe conditions. This allows the feet to have the perfect fit.
There are some shoes that are made more than just a pair of shoes to protect your feet. There are also those shoes that were made to increase your overall performance. For instance, you have the shoes that will slow down the abrupt deceleration allowing your muscles to relax properly. And also, you have some shoes that make use of state of the art technology in order to promote the foot from distributing the weight when running.
If you will look at technologies that we have developed through history, running “naturally” is a step back. Though yes, it has the ability to promote muscle strength, you have to consider the realities that it could injure the body even more. It could even cause fracture on your shin. Having the right shoe especially during marathons and long distance running can make a big difference.
